The End of Everything

Required Philosophy Content

Today, we’ll be discussed ‘eschatology,’ the study of the end times. Most people have some kind of eschatology, as long as they have ideas about ‘the end of everything.’

Start your exploration with the Wikipedia entry on eschatology. The entry is short, but there are a lot of links in it. We’d encourage you to follow at least three or four of the links—do a little exploring on which parts of this topic interest you.

Then, since part of our course focuses on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, watch this brief video for theologian Scott Hahn’s description of Catholic eschatology.

Required Scientific Reading

We’ve already touched on quite a bit of this previously, but there’s a relatively recent (and somewhat prescient) piece in Vox that contains a short list of many of the existential threats that humanity faces here.
